Katherine Harris writing book about her U.S. Senate campaign
Katherine Harris said today she’s writing a book about her tumultuous campaign for the U.S. Senate.
The congresswoman from Longboat Key near Sarasota grabbed the national spotlight during Florida’s disputed vote count in the 2000 election.
She’s far behind incumbent Senator Bill Nelson in the polls and has weathered a rocky and controversial campaign season.
Staffers quit, telling reporters she throws temper tantrums over such minutia as whether a Starbucks is nearby.
She’s made questionable public statements and has had to answer questions about her dealings with a corrupt defense contractor. Campaign donations have trickled in.
Harris isn’t talking about details of the book at campaign appearances, but the Sarasota Herald-Tribune reported that it would be a “tell-all†book about the conspiracy to undermine her U.S. Senate bid.
